When I was a intern in microsoft, I got the idea about Beta, which means a sofware product is in the status before launch and after internal review. In this status, some dedicated fans can try the software and give feedback from customer perspective. 

 

Several years past, we are moving to internet world. New concepts are coming: Software as Service, cloud computing, mobile internet; they also have beta versions to help the internet company improve their product quality and get feedback from users. By trying Google beta, I'm exciting on the new concepts are coming true step by step. I can create EXCEL via my IE, upload PPT and convert it to PDF, can you imagine, office functions are becoming service on web! Even Nokia claimed to transfering to an internet company, to provide world level customer connecting experience. Some researches have done for the co-creation, which is similar with Beta idea.

" Is there any impact on your company? " Even my father in law asked me again and again, he lived in 2nd level city in China, and retired 2 years ago. " Our department will be moved to Beijing", one friend in Shanghai told me, it can be looked as a signal to push her resign. "My schoolmate is kicked off from the lawyer agency, it's only her 3rd month on board". The job could give you 5 times of the social average salary, but now you should do job hunting again.  Global economic crisis is impacting China, especially on international trade & service company.

 

As for me, it may impact my promotion next year, project opportunity, and living budget. But on the other hand, it still a good opportunity for my family, I can spend more time with them, spend more love than money. Perhaps it can be a good chance to take another apartment when the price is dropping down.

 

Life is going on, just keep smiling

After HK channel went live successfully , I took training in KL and then went back Shanghai to visit parents and old friends.

 

In KL , the Shangri-la Hotel is bad, bad, bad. Buffet every day and the hot wet weather almost make me sick. It's not easy for the faculties to make the course fun, except the funny video created by our APM-EWPM-custom track. Nevertheless, Netwoking is still the biggest achievement, I met some new friends, going shopping to KLCC, and searching playing card & drinks in the Putrajaya shopping mall.

 

In Shanghai, time passed so fast. 2 hours for each friend group ( Accenture, Shanghai Mobile, Middle School, High School). I aslo had lunch with family, gave comments on father's driving skills after 3000 km milestone, packaged stuffs in Shanghai Home for movement to Beijing.

 

Now I'm in Beijing's new individual apartment, landlord made it very clean before I moved in. I can enjoy the rocking chair to view the car lights on the 2nd ring highway. Next month, my family will come to join me, go! to be a good father:) 

 

Note:I still belongs to Shanghai office, just want to stay in Beijing for one/two years for a long program.

 

 

 

 

Within one week, two good friends are promoted to be father. One boy and another is girl, sooner or later, another friends will also give birth to their first child. Yang Yang will become big brother

It's Oct 4th, the 30th day after I came back YinChuan - my wife's hometown. I'm very lucky that I can accomany my family in this special moment. Every daytime, I worked for Nokia project from home. It's a long term globalization programe, so I can have opportunity to work offsite at not busy period. In the whole month, conference call, email handling and baby-sitter all my life.

 

Tomorrow, I will fly back to Beijing to continue my on site responsibility. Hopefully, I will fly home every weekends, and wish air ticket has low discount:)  Wish my son getting stronger and stronger, my wife recovering better and better. Then we can get together in Beijing after YangYang's 100 days.

 

 

 

 

It's 2008 Sept. 3, 22:55 GMT+8. My son , YangYang, was born safely in Yinchuan, north-westen of China. 3.1 KG, 3 weeks ahead of schedule:)

 

Yang is many Chinese words' pronunciation.

 

It can be 洋, means ocean, as he was conceived in Australia, which belongs to Oceania.

It can be 扬, means rise, as he was born in Olympic year, wish it can be a good start for China.

It can be 阳, means sunshine, wish my dear son can be happy and health for ever.

 

All you best, my son!

 

Oh, my dear wife, I'm sorry I didn't accompany with you at the special moment. Our son should be very clever as he always want to be born when I plan to go airport. Last time, I stayed and he was calm and stay in your belly; This time, I flied to Beijing for an important meeting, he jumped out and seemed to say: you should be with us:)

 

You know, I'm so loving you, and my son. Fly to you tonight!

 

It's Beijing Olympic opening ceremony day, 2008.08.08. But for me, I prefer to go back Shanghai and accompany with family for watching the big event. On the other hand, it's very meaningful for us that we bought our first family car on this special day.

Only 4 days are left for Olympic opening ceremony. It's amazing time for Chinese people, and I believe most of us are blessing it will be successful after storm, Tibet protest, and earthquake. To be a developing country, I thought China government and people have tried their best, despite the bad atmosphere in Beijing.

 

I appreciate foreign media is disclosing the environment problem, which is also known by every Chinese. This can help our country go back on the track of health life. But I'm very shocked that CNN still cannot understand the culture of China.  As a country with thousands of years history, we love our country, and I believe all top athletes are fighting for their homeland without any fear of stress, and hard work. But what CNN said today ( they said it again & again): China forced the children to do intensive training, and even Yao Ming is forced to attend Olympic after several months big injured. Liu Xiang is under big pressure to win the golden medal, and he will loss everything if he loss the game. Oh, how silly CNN! They didn't understand Chinese people, they didn't understand the spirit to fight for the glory of homeland. It looks only fight for the money is reasonable for CNN!

 

It's not easier for a developing country to organize an Olympic game, please give Beijing a chance to prove himself, and give time to China for growing stronger and stronger. If you don't have patient, then you may be only like to judge others by your own standard, or unreasonable.

 

Let's bless for Beijing Olympic, and for the peace of the world.

It has been 24 days since I came back China, my homeland. I visited Hong Kong, Shanghai, Yinchuan, Beijing, and now Dalian; I'm carrying my Nikon D80 with two lens, to record things and people around me. Nice to be home, with peaceful people and sweet family.

Koala, kangaroo and platypus are the most famous animals I knew for Australia. One year passed, I saw a lot of unique animals here: Dingo, Tasmania Devil, Wombat, and many many colourful birds. It's a paradise continent for wild animals, and it drove me to buy a big lens without any hesitating.  For the last weekend in Melbourne,  I visited the Melbourne Zoo.  Even though it may be only quarter size of Shanghai Zoo, I still got many good photos for kinds of animals. I was exciting to see Tree - kangaroo,  lovely monkeys ...  Bye, special friends

It's time to go home. In Shanghai, my mother will have surgery on her hand, and I will accompany her until her recovery; In Yinchuan, my wife will do the first Type B Ultrasonic, and I can see my child first time; In Beijing, I will start a new role with challenge and opportunity! "See you on June, my family".

 

It's time to say thanks and goodbye to Melbourne. Here I experienced my first oversea big project; here I met so many talents from all around the world; here I learnt to play Golf and even drive on the left. "Thanks, and Welcome to China, my friends"

Earthquake! 7.8 ! even in Beijing, Shanghai, thousands miles from the quake center, you can feel it. In the special year, China faced ice disaster, CPI rising, Tibet protesting, and now is the biggest earthquake since P.R. China was established. In the special moment,Prime Minister Wen Jiabao is organizing troops and people to survive from the natural disaster.

 

It's donate time! Thanks to Accenture, and our company will donate the same money as we donate! It may be not huge money, but at least it can bring our wishes and help to our motherland, when we are abroad.

 

It's one china time! I can feel pain when I saw the video and dead body on the web. Like the flood 1998, even it took some of us to another world, we can still remember the lovely troops and brave people. We believe we can conquer the disaster in one china.

 

In this special year,Beijing Olympic will show world a wonderful games.  We believe, all things will be better, and China will keep on going ahead !

 

Telstra switched off their 2G wireless service (CDMA) on April 28,2008. 'Next G', which is Telstra's 3G market brand, is now fully commerical operating. From the global 3 G map, U.S.A, western Europe, and Australia has become 3G coverage country.

 

It costed 2.5 years for Telstra to merge to 'Next G', they experienced the construction, Road show, Government endorsement, and now switch off CDMA.  I surfed Telstra intranet, what impressed me was that it made lots of effort to show the benifits to the consumers, especially Enterprise, Government, and Contry wide consumers.  The publish General Manager and even the CEO himself showed the 'Next G' brand on the conference and TV news. It's not an easy way to say switch off the 2G, if you know about the communication industry. Technically it may be easier from 2G to 3G than from analogy to 2G. But from Business perspective, it's not a easier way. How to persuade consumers to change their handsets? how to persuade the government to approve retiring the old,huge network? how to response the challenge from the changing issues? Telstra show me their long term consideration and short term customer care and business operation. Congratulations, great success!

Today, I helped my colleague to check the consumer segement in Telstra, and found I'm moving from "Work hard Play hard" to " Family and Fun". So I changed my space title. It's very meaningful for me and my family. This year, our family will buy our 1st car, and another big exciting moment will happen on September. I also wish my career can reach another milestone

Olympic Torch relay is going on at Canberra Australia today; appreciate the organizer, policemen and our lovely oversea Chinese students. Olympic should be peaceful and sports focused like this.

 

I was growing up companying the reforming and opening to the outside world period of China, and I believed Chinese should win the respect from all over the world. No matter whether communist party is good or not, foreign friends, please don’t ignore our achievements in the recent 30 years:

 

l         China made almost 20% human beings not in hungry any more by 6.5% land of the world.

l         China made illiterate rate down from 23% to 8% in the recent 10 years. In my family, 4/5 of my generation went to university, and can you imagine that there were still half of my grandpa generation is illiterate?

l         China made more and more world class big and modern cities, like Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.

l         China is the only developing country can send human beings to the space.

l         China has the biggest mobile network in the world, you can call China Mobile almost every where in China, it’s factJ

 

Many of my friends did do projects in Tibet, and they mentioned that almost all big projects are invested by the central government! Many people visited Tibet, and it’s a peaceful place with blue sky and pure people. I have friends and classmates from Tibet, and they can go to university with lower criteria, it’s a good chance for them to learn modern society life. So if you didn’t go to Tibet by yourself, please keep silent.

 

It’s unfair for the western media just focused on the human rights, and Tibet issue. We are growing up and working on the basic human rights - survive! Why not say more about what China has contributed to the world? When western media say a lot about respect individuals, please also consider respecting a great country and his people, they lived in this planet for 5000 years, and still struggling to catch up with the modern society.

 

Beijing Olympic games is a good chance to show the world how Chinese people like peace and sports; it’s not a political platform. We just like the slogan: Faster, Higher, and Stronger! One world, one dream! Go Beijing! Love China!
