2009.1.30 - First time to take car more than 100 km, we went to Tianjin, and meet Dong liang, who is godfather of Yang Yang.

2009.1.31 - First time to kiss a girl, who is Dong Dong's daughter - Grape :)

 

" Is there any impact on your company? " Even my father in law asked me again and again, he lived in 2nd level city in China, and retired 2 years ago. " Our department will be moved to Beijing", one friend in Shanghai told me, it can be looked as a signal to push her resign. "My schoolmate is kicked off from the lawyer agency, it's only her 3rd month on board". The job could give you 5 times of the social average salary, but now you should do job hunting again.  Global economic crisis is impacting China, especially on international trade & service company.

 

As for me, it may impact my promotion next year, project opportunity, and living budget. But on the other hand, it still a good opportunity for my family, I can spend more time with them, spend more love than money. Perhaps it can be a good chance to take another apartment when the price is dropping down.

 

Life is going on, just keep smiling

Earthquake! 7.8 ! even in Beijing, Shanghai, thousands miles from the quake center, you can feel it. In the special year, China faced ice disaster, CPI rising, Tibet protesting, and now is the biggest earthquake since P.R. China was established. In the special moment,Prime Minister Wen Jiabao is organizing troops and people to survive from the natural disaster.

 

It's donate time! Thanks to Accenture, and our company will donate the same money as we donate! It may be not huge money, but at least it can bring our wishes and help to our motherland, when we are abroad.

 

It's one china time! I can feel pain when I saw the video and dead body on the web. Like the flood 1998, even it took some of us to another world, we can still remember the lovely troops and brave people. We believe we can conquer the disaster in one china.

 

In this special year,Beijing Olympic will show world a wonderful games.  We believe, all things will be better, and China will keep on going ahead !

 

Today, I helped my colleague to check the consumer segement in Telstra, and found I'm moving from "Work hard Play hard" to " Family and Fun". So I changed my space title. It's very meaningful for me and my family. This year, our family will buy our 1st car, and another big exciting moment will happen on September. I also wish my career can reach another milestone

Olympic Torch relay is going on at Canberra Australia today; appreciate the organizer, policemen and our lovely oversea Chinese students. Olympic should be peaceful and sports focused like this.

 

I was growing up companying the reforming and opening to the outside world period of China, and I believed Chinese should win the respect from all over the world. No matter whether communist party is good or not, foreign friends, please don’t ignore our achievements in the recent 30 years:

 

l         China made almost 20% human beings not in hungry any more by 6.5% land of the world.

l         China made illiterate rate down from 23% to 8% in the recent 10 years. In my family, 4/5 of my generation went to university, and can you imagine that there were still half of my grandpa generation is illiterate?

l         China made more and more world class big and modern cities, like Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.

l         China is the only developing country can send human beings to the space.

l         China has the biggest mobile network in the world, you can call China Mobile almost every where in China, it’s factJ

 

Many of my friends did do projects in Tibet, and they mentioned that almost all big projects are invested by the central government! Many people visited Tibet, and it’s a peaceful place with blue sky and pure people. I have friends and classmates from Tibet, and they can go to university with lower criteria, it’s a good chance for them to learn modern society life. So if you didn’t go to Tibet by yourself, please keep silent.

 

It’s unfair for the western media just focused on the human rights, and Tibet issue. We are growing up and working on the basic human rights - survive! Why not say more about what China has contributed to the world? When western media say a lot about respect individuals, please also consider respecting a great country and his people, they lived in this planet for 5000 years, and still struggling to catch up with the modern society.

 

Beijing Olympic games is a good chance to show the world how Chinese people like peace and sports; it’s not a political platform. We just like the slogan: Faster, Higher, and Stronger! One world, one dream! Go Beijing! Love China!

Hopeful , dream 2008!

Jan 2nd, when I went to work, most of colleagues were still in vacation, and not much work to do, so I applied another day vacation on this Friday. Oh, from Feb. 22 to Jan. 6, I have taken 16 days holiday.

 

In these long vacation, I took almost 1000 photos; I swang myself at least 500 times for 200 golf balls; my wife and I painted 35 models for “Lord of the rings”, and most of them are only 2 cm high, its amazing achievement; we visited Yarra Valley again and saw lovely Alpaca from south America; totally, almost 4000 AUD is paid for clothes, camera, perfume, wines, and bags etc. We should start to save money again J

 

This period, thunderstorm, hot sunshine, showers in Melbourne looks like to make joke with us. Here we experienced hottest new years eve, with 42 degrees; Here we enjoyed the fantastic fireworks of 2008; Here Cricket games, movies, tennis games occupied the TV channels; Here you can find most of cars are stopped at the beachside, and surf belongs to everyone.

 

Vacation is finished; it’s time to go back work. I have helped my parents apply the VISA and bought air-tickets for them, waiting for the next vacation with them. Wish them enjoy the life in AUS.

Xmas? it should be Dec. 25, snowing, saint tree,beer ring...  But Here in Melbourne, it's summer Xmas, special and interesting:)

 

It's Xmas month! When you turn on the TV, you can watch many old films about saint clause and his stories. When you go shopping, almost every dealer has special Xmas catelog. Many of my colleagues have applied annual leave from next week, they can enjoy the long long vacation with their families, enjoy the sunshine at gold coast, relax at Tasmia or go around the New Zealand.

 

As for me, I will stay in Melbourne for the first summer Xmas. I bought NIKON D80 as a big gift for myself, NIKON camera is a dream from my childhood. So exciting to take photo around to record the special days. I also added some accelories for my Golf sports, golf + camera + shopping will be my summer Xmas activites.

It has been 3 months here. Spring is coming, and the weather is changing every day.  I'm very lucky that I didn't get cold:)

 

Factory model in project means you will run as a machine to make everything running smoothly. Detail Assessement,  design, Defect solving, negotiating and communicating are all my daily work. System will go live next week, many friends will roll off as the peak period is end. As for me, just keep on my way to work well in his software factory, it's very meaningful to know the fact of Accenture System Integration Project.

 

Life is becoming fantastic: Melbourne show , Melbourne spring art festival, Zhang Xueyou concert, Great Ocean Road 800 km travel. Yes, this is Melbourne, a city make you fall in love with arts and sports. Here my wife and I also got know some new friends, that's so sweet!

Today is  the 2nd months after I left XinJiang, China; Today is one year annual before Beijing Olympic Games begins; I have been here, in Melbourne, one month. I will be here for almost one year to work on a project for a gloden client of Accenture.

 

Clean and peaceful. There are many beautiful gardens in the city, animals and humans are enjoying the blue sky, green grasses and fresh air together. With tram's slow pace, you can feel the peace. Every car will let pedestrian go first, and people here like to say "Cool", " Cheers", "Sorry", and "How are you" every day.

 

Casual and creative life. Melbourne is the art and sports center of Australia. Every weekend, many many AFL fans will go Telstra Dome and MCG to watch the games; You can visit or enjoy the galleries, museums as you imagination. All ticket prices are reasonable, and almost lower than in China !

 

Be serious on business. You will be asked accurate information when you create account, think it over before do it. Take care of the customer's feeling. This maybe the developed socity's signal.

 

Just enjoy it!

 

Today is my last day in CTXJ Project. I will roll off on June 10 and go back home, visiting hometown.

Invited all teams to have dinner in ZiBABA, a korea restaurant this noon. No more words, just did a little cheers and enjoied the foods. 2 years let us know each other well, and I believe they know what's my expectation on them , and I can understand their greetings on me as well. Just like a family, everything is ok:)

 

What's next:

June 17 - June 27, KL, Malaysia, SOA training and take vacation with my wife

July 1st, plan to fly to Melborne, there is another big project. New start, new challenge soon! 

Now what I need to think is share my time with family and friends. Just Relax and Recharging.

 

2005. 5.17, I flied to Xinjiang and joined China Telecom Xin Jiang - Business and Operation Support System Project. Louie told me that I need stay here for 5 months, but finally, I have been here 2 years, and today is also the second day after going live in Urumqi.

 

2 years is a small period of my life, but I believe this big project may be a good start of my career. Here I learned to how to build high performance team, how to handle big project's risks and issues, and how to say " We never Give Up". Here I traveled 1/6 of China, hiked on snow mountains, and stayed in the fog city almost 2 whole winters. Here I made so many friends, and made a successful proposal to my sweet-heart ( now is my honey wife). 

 

What's next to go?  I wish we can made Cang Ji City go live next month, and take vacation to KL with my honey, and go to have another start in Melbourne, Australia.  Just keep going!

2 Years, finally, project's go live plan is determined.  Busy go live, and we planned to do over time during whole labor holiday. We were so lucky, data migration team and CRM team gave us a present: we can have 5 days for travel. Kanas again was on my list! This time, my wife is with me.

 

Spring in Kanas is still a little cold, color is different with my last travel. It's green, cray, white and changing.

Green: green grass, green leaves, it's the color of spring. Cray: cloud, ground, mountain. White: snow is still left on the high mountain. changing is the amazing in our trip: we wear T-shit on the road from Urumqi to Kanas, raining at night after we had eaten the fired fish, sunshine on the climibing of the mountain, colorful Wu Cai beach tell us the story of the world.

 

Free Kanas gave us a deep breath, I can not write too much about it, as go live is coming. May 17,2005 is the date I came to Urumqi, May 16, 2007 will be the go live milestone. Just Go Go Go!

After 20 months' experience in Accenture, Today, I'm promoted from Analyst to Consultant.

 

Looking back to my working experience, first project in Shanghai Mobile gave me more knowledge about communication industry in China, 2nd project in Nanjing ZTEsoft established myself with more professional working attitude, 3rd project in XinJiang Telecom gave me a meaningful chance to creat value for client!

 

I'm pleasure to have met so many friends in Accenture,especially within Xinjiang, we are always a big family. Last night, we said farewell to Tong Xin, our big brother. We may not meet with each other whole life, but I still feel he was with me, and support us!

 

To be a consultant means more challenge should be faced! As Paul told me today: we should play manager role if needed, but still should do analyst job if necessary.  But anyway, Accenture is great, I will keep walking!

It was a story happened last month. I didn't imagine that China Southern could be delay in sunshine day before my marriage leave.

 

4.27 18:00, we were told that CZ**** would be postponed to 21:00, we kept calm.

4.27 20:00, we were told that CZ**** would be postponed to 23:00, we began angery, and ask for compensation, they gave us only 200 RMB.

4.27 22:00, we were told that CZ**** would be postponed to 2:00 AM, we fighted with China Southern, finally got 500RMB for compensation!

 

During this 8 hours' waiting period, we could have chance to change to other planes, but no body told us. There were 5 China Southern leaders/servicers explained to us, but their execuses were different. There were some foreigns from Russia, and when I asked what they felt, they said only one word: funny!  Oh, this is our airline's SLA level, as customer, we should push them to improve their services and get our right! 

One Global Network is one of the core values of Accenture. In my last project in Nanjing, I had chance to work with some international teams, but it was one traditional work model of international cooperation. You can regard it as onsite style. How about the real international teamwork? From Core Analyst School, we learnt there are so many ways to make communication efficiently between international teams.

 

There is a good chance to experience it now, 1st Digital Photograph Champion game gave me an opportunity to lead a team from different locations. Our teams are from DaLian, Shanghai,Kula Lumper and I'm in Xinjiang now. You can draw a triangle with 3000KM long edge. Though it is just a community volunteer activity, it still gave me the first chance to organize the 1st conference call meeting. Our meeting is very efficient within 1 hour and we all know ideas from each other.

What is the difference between consulting company vs Local company? Detail oriented, structure process, or professional attitude? I think the biggest difference is that consulting company can tell you  hard & soft skills and enourage you to build it!  In our school life, I can have the opportunity to be a class president, but not all guys can have this experience. But as long as you came in consulting life, you will be impacted by more information on soft skills. You can find we always play energize for boring meeting, we will ask more if one issue is raised, we can find right people in right time. From the soft skills building, you will find much more potential from yourself, you can extend your capability, vision and become more confident.  It's very amazing how soft skills can help you in your life. 

 

Accenture is becoming a total-solution consulting company. You will find analysts may be assigned to different basic roles to do some basic job, even just do as a secretary. It gave you the chance to build hard skills, know some details and understand more about hard work. Be patient and keep passion, hard skills can make sure you are not a windbaggary.

 

Hard skills and soft skills, just build them!

As the project is moving to System Integration Test Phase, hard time is coming. As for me, it is time to write down the issue tree for my team, and another tree for my life. You know, it's very important to make life balance in consulting life. I wish I can do it!
